Nationwide there are over 650 AmeriCorps programs. Of those, only a handful support members who live in a residential community type of setting. For over 15 years Mt. Adams Center has earned a reputation for its stand out residential based program based in Washington’s Cascade Mountains.
Each year 42 members join one of six field teams dedicated to building and maintaining trails, protecting communities from wild fires or restoring and enhancing natural habitat. Each team is led by two co-leaders.

Are you ready for a leadership position?
If you possess leadership skills, bring experience and maturity to the job, possess a passion for outdoor living (camping, hiking, etc) and have a healthy work ethic we invite you to apply for a Field Team Leader position. The team leader is often described as the hardest job you will ever love. It requires the ability to work well with people, the aptitude to learn and teach new skills and the willingness to put the needs of the group ahead of your own.

The rewards are many including working and living in some of the most pristine wild lands of Oregon, Washington and California. Additionally, the Mt. Adams Center will dedicate three months train and prepare you for the main project season – June through October. You’ll participate in trainings on Wilderness Advanced First Aid, defensive driving, outdoor living skills, team management and professional communication. You’ll spend six weeks on the Pacific Crest Trail learning how to build trails, operate hand tools and chainsaws and handle all the logistics of managing a backcountry camp and kitchen. Additionally, during your term of service you and your team will take a week long natural history journey to a world class wilderness area or national park. Activities such as kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, biking, or rock climbing will punctuate the experience.
